Obao Noodles & BBQ NYC // REVIEW //

so way back in January… yeah… i know that’s a while ago… I went to a restaurant. After going to a show too. in nyc! so fun. My favorite show is Phantom which is now closed :( I did get to see it before it closed though. the sounds are so beautiful and the chandelier goes flying and there’s candles in a foggy misty boat and that scene where they travel down the slopes into the cavern… it’s just so amazing. Well, that’s not the show I went to before I went to eat fish & it doesn’t even have anything to do with fish, except that maybe the Phantom went fishing in his underground cave pool sometimes. We’ll never know…
SO this place is near broadway and it’s a Thai and Vietnamese fusion place. It was the first time I’d ever had Vietnamese food & I ended up very impressed! It’s good food! & also, it has delicious fish. I DON’T EVEN LIKE FISH……………! [mostly. some fish is good, usually I’m like “meh”]
but you’re here for the fish so have some fish:

okay that’s probably enough fish.
► it’s easy to order here because everything on the menu is labeled with gluten free or dairy free & you can see what’s what! nice! The restaurant was very fun & busy and the fish came like a fish, which was the first time I’d ever ordered fish like that so it was super cool. Of course there were some bones on the edge but most of it didn’t have a lot of bones. Do I remember what kind of fish it was???????? er no. it was good though. It had basil on it and mint too, and at this point I can no longer accurately describe the taste but it was a good and delicious taste that they put on it too. and the fish was nice and light and good-textured, not dry and chewy and weird like fish is sometimes, and not annoying like fish is othertimes. The outside was nice and crisp. And it came with little cucumber slices on the side which I liked because I like cucumbers. I ate the mint leaves too.
I also had this salad thing for appetizer which had like a whole sauce on it? It was sweet and delicious.
cons: some bones I guess and maybe you don’t want a whole fish because it creeps you out. don’t get fish then get something else! there were also some nice looking noodle dishes that were also gluten free.
WHERE TO BUY: at the restaurant in midtown or hell’s kitchen locations in nyc

LOVED all the fish! (quite artful, actually :)
